Political Science
No one likes us -- I don't know why
We may not be perfect, but Heaven knows we try
and all around even our old friends put us down
Let's drop the big one and see what happens
Randy Newman said it in 1972. My, how things change. Yesterday, I almost thought all this antiterrorism hogwash might be worth something, what with all of the upped security on the East Coast to protect the Stock Exchange and such. This morning, I woke up to find out that their "fresh" and "chilling" evidence of an Al-Qa'ida attack was not at all fresh, and a few thousand miles away from where there actually may have been a threat. That's what I get for having any faith in our administration.
The feds had better not dare ask for the benefit of the doubt, here. They certainly haven't earned it. No weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. No link between Saddam and bin-Ladin. They haven't even caught that wacko that was sending anthrax to politicians, let alone Osama. While the Middle East may be a little better now than it was three years ago, it certainly doesn't smell of democracy, equality, and peace. They're killing the forests, the economy is still hurting, our national debt is higher than it has ever been (including during the Great Depression and the Civil War -- and i'm talking constant dollars), and they haven't ONCE apoligized for a single mistake.
This is totally unacceptable. Seriously. Let's say for a minute that they really were doing what they thought would best protect American citizens. Why didn't they do it three years ago when they heard about it? Were they trying to seem impenetrable? Were they saving this for closer to the election? Is the communication between the CIA, FBI, National Security Advisor, the Cabinet, and President Bush so inefficient that it takes three years?
It gets fishier. Apparently, the only "fresh" information we had pointed to San Francisco. Cunning. Let's get as far away as we can from the place that might actually be threatened, and protect it. Those San Francisco liberals probably don't deserve to be protected anyway, and those New Yorkers really know what it feels like to be hit by terrorists, so they'll appreciate the extra security. I'm starting to think it was all for show.
We give them money -- but are they grateful?
No, they're spiteful and they're hateful
They don't respect us, so let's surprise them
We'll drop the big one and pulverize them . . .
