655,000
655,000 Iraqis are dead as a result of the war. That's 2.5% of their population, and it's about 560 people per day, or one person every 3 minutes. Some of that is sectarian violence, to be sure, but that's a very, very large number, and it's one we are responsible for.
Yeah, we are. It's a government of, for, and by the people that's orchestrating this train wreck. No, I didn't vote for Bush, and I thank my lucky stars that I'm not one of our men on the ground in the thick of it (who, by the way, I respect greatly. They probably have more power to fix this problem than any of us back here do -- so don't let Karl Rove tell you liberals hate the troops). But I can't help but feel like we aren't doing enough at home to stop this mess.
655,000 people dead. I guess that means, in a manner of speaking, we've liberated that many souls from the troubles in Iraq, but, Jesus, that's not the way to go about doing it.

It's an awful situation, and my thoughts and prayers are with all the people there, Iraqi and American. I've long believed that people would be less likely to support wars if they could see firsthand the death and destruction they caused.
By the way, I'm working on setting up my own blog one of these days. I'll let you know when it's online.
I need to talk to you more about politics, mostly cause I am bored with the people I am talking to now . . . nothing against them, but I know what they think.
