Happy Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.
I can smell it all now. A table filled to the edges with mashed potatoes, turkey gravy, stuffing, perhaps a green bean casserole, hot rolls, Grandad's macaroni and cheese (not to be mistaken for Kraft Dinner), canned cranberry sauce (for those of us that like the ribs), cranberry sauce (for those of us that don't), the turkey that has been roasting for five hours, and the pumpkin pie. In addition to that, I'm sure there will be a couple bottles of Martinelli's Sparkling Cider and some red wine.
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. Lots and lots of food, people stop for a while to count their blessings and usually do a pretty good job of giving to charity this time of year, you get to hang out with your family and friends, take a break from school or work (or both), and Christmas is still on the way. While I detest Christmas Carols and decorations before Thanksgiving, I warm right up to them the day after, when I'm still kinda full from the night before.
The day after, Keith and I will probably work on Granny and Grandad's Christmas decorations, which constitutes splicing rat-hewn wires, tracking down outlets and extension cords, setting up the outdoor trees after hosing them off, and putting the star up on their hill. After that, I've got some cribbage boards to finish up in Grandad's shop (I'm hoping they'll make good gifts this year).
Since it's Thanksgiving, and I'm in good spirits, I'll hold off on ranting about Operation Plymouth Rock (how distasteful), the new budget's "special spending," and that terrible MTV show "Laguna Beach."
I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. Drive safely, don't do too much homework, and eat some extra potatoes for me.
